The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy – BiRD GmbH is currently accepting applications for a Key expert 1: Expert in Extractive Industries Governance / EITI Expert, Expert Category I for the EU-funded project Technical Assistance to the Government of Uganda for the implementation of Justice and Accountability (JAR) Sector Reform

Key expert 1: Expert in Extractive Industries Governance / EITI Expert, Expert Category I (500 working days)

Qualifications and skills

Minimum requirements

  • University Degree in public administration, political science, economics, energy or mineral development or a relevant, directly related discipline.

  • Proficient communication and written skills in English.

General professional experience

Minimum requirements

  • At least 10 years of successful professional working experience with supporting the governance of extractive industries towards sustainable development and poverty reduction.

  • Proven international experience with the policy environment of the oil sub-sector.

Preferred requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. Experience in Uganda is considered a distinct advantage.

Specific professional experience

Preferred requirements

  • Profound working experience in supporting countries on the implementation of the EITI Standard, including close liaison with government officials, company representatives and civil society groups in implementing countries.
